The Court of Appeals, the highest court in the state of Maryland, has agreed to hear Frisky's case in April 2007. We'll keep you posted.

We have not and will not be closed down, no matter what the outcome is. The issue at stake is whether or not Frisky's can provide sanctuary to homeless primates and other exotics and does not affect Frisky's ability to take in wildlife. We are a licensed Wildlife Rehabilitation Facility.

The following are responses to the March 4th Baltimore Sun article concerning Frisky's upcoming Court of Appeals case ...

Reading the article on Frisky’s Sanctuary, I noted some obvious factual errors and omitted information.

(1) The courts placed the monkey at Frisky’s in 1999 after animal control seized it when the owners took it to a bar. The owners became angry at Frisky’s when they couldn’t get the monkey back.

(2) Frisky’s has a federal USDA license permitting them to keep monkeys. So far, Howard County hasn’t recognized that license.

(3) In over 30 years of operation, Frisky’s was never cited for having an unsafe facility. There has never been a problem with dangerous diseases infecting the monkeys or any animals there.

(4) Frisky’s monkeys undergo yearly physicals, including extensive lab tests. The best primate vets in the state perform these physicals. The monkeys also undergo periodic vet checks during the year.

(5) The vast majority of Frisky’s neighbors are supportive of the sanctuary. Frisky’s works with the community, schools and children’s groups doing educational outreach.

For once I would love to see a newspaper brave enough to cover the real facts behind Wyckoff’s vendetta against Frisky’s, instead of the same old story, whether it is correct or not. What ever happened to investigative reporting?
